Overview:
STEAMS Central Inc. seeks experienced educators, curriculum designers, and academic content specialists to serve as Curriculum Support Volunteers. This role supports the development, review, and alignment of interdisciplinary STREAMSS education materials with California Education Standards and Career Technical Education (CTE) Model Curriculum Standards.
Curriculum Support Volunteers contribute to the refinement of project-based lesson plans, instructional guides, rubrics, and student-facing materials to ensure academic rigor, developmental appropriateness, and standards alignment across grade levels.
Role Purpose:
The Curriculum Support Volunteer role exists to strengthen the instructional integrity, coherence, and standards alignment of STEAMS Central’s project-based learning frameworks. Volunteers support vertical and horizontal alignment to California Common Core State Standards (CCSS), Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), History-Social Science Frameworks, Visual and Performing Arts Standards, and California CTE Model Curriculum Standards where applicable.
This role ensures that curriculum resources are structured, scaffolded, and designed to support measurable skill progression and real-world application.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and edit STREAMSS education materials, including project-based lesson plans, instructional guides, worksheets, and assessment rubrics.
Support alignment of curriculum materials to California K–12 Education Standards and CTE Model Curriculum Standards.
Assist in scaffolding learning progressions to ensure grade-level appropriateness and skill development continuity.
Provide proofreading and structural feedback to improve clarity, consistency, and instructional flow.
Contribute formative and summative assessment alignment.
Support integration of interdisciplinary competencies, including career-connected and applied learning elements.
Participate in periodic virtual review sessions or curriculum consultations as needed.
Collaborate with STEAMS Central staff to maintain coherence across subject areas and grade bands.
Scope of Engagement:
Volunteer contributions are curriculum-focused and standards-aligned
No classroom teaching, credential transfer, or instructional supervision is required.
Qualifications:
Background as a credentialed educator, curriculum specialist, instructional coach, or academic content developer preferred
Familiarity with California Common Core State Standards (CCSS), NGSS, History-Social Science Frameworks, Visual and Performing Arts Standards, or California CTE Model Curriculum Standards
Experience in lesson planning, standards alignment, rubric development, or instructional design.
Strong attention to detail, editing ability, and systems thinking
Ability to review curriculum through both academic and workforce-readiness lenses.
